It was a wonderful day in Weymouth, the sun was shining, the light was perfect for photography.
My day of photography started on the fabulous Weymouth beach which is a gently curving arc, very wide and gently sloping, with golden sand and shallow waters normally with gentle waves that lap on the shoreline.
There are some amazing attractions of a traditional English seaside resort, including donkey rides, Punch and Judy, trampolines and a small fun fair all which took my mind back to when I was a child.
All the amazing attractions all made great subjects for my photography.
Donkey rides on Weymouth beach have been an important attraction for many years although there was a break in the attraction when The Downton family who run the rides for generations retired from Weymouth Beach in 2000.
Mrs Maggie Aldridge re-introduced Donkey Rides on Weymouth Beach in May 2005 much to the residents and tourists of Weymouth pleasure and delight.
Maggie’s Donkeys have also won Best Donkey Group in the Southern Region and came runner up in the Best Group in the Country.
The donkeys where very well behaved and made great models for my photography too.
I then had a slow walk to the wonderful Weymouth quayside where you can see the hustle and bustle of the many working fishing boats landing their catch of the day, the sights sounds and smells of this working quay are truly wonderful.
Again I had many opportunities to take various photographs in many styles from landscapes, to creative art photography, wildlife photography and a few portraits too.
In particular interest to me was the most important vessel in the harbour, the ‘Ernest and Mabel’ who is a SEVERN class Lifeboat that has saved many lives along with its extremely brave crew.
Weymouth is one of the busiest Lifeboat stations on the coast, undertaking around 100 ‘shouts’ a year.
All in all my day of photography in Weymouth was a wonderful day full of amazing light , colour and wonderful subjects for my photography.
